Lines and Knots for Sturgeon Fishing

For those of you who don't know better. I meant to say Bait loop or improved Bait loop for what we use when Sturgeon fishing. Obviously there are many knots you can use for tying your hooks onto leader, but the Improved bait loop is a great all round knot where you can insert bait and secure it tightly.

Although the main line is very strong and designed to fight BIG FISH...remember to always check it for nicks or tears. These can happen for a various reasons, but you do not what to lose a fish of a lifetime because you were to lazy or forgot to give your gear a once over.

Please do not use braided line for your leader line. When fighting bigger fish this can lead to actually cutting the fish and harming them. We use 96 lbs mono line and it works great. I have heard of folks using less than that and landing many big fish. It becomes a personal preference but remember above all to treat these fish with the upmost care and release back as fast as you can.
