Rigging up Sturgeon Bait

Securing your bait is important for obvious reasons. Like shown in the Video, we use Spider thread. It is easy and quick to use. Depending on the size of your bait and what your using spider thread can pretty much work in all situations.

When using roe bags we use spider thread to help secure the knots and when using worms or eels we also use a little to make sure everything is staying where we want it.

Durning Eulachon season or when using other bait fish, using half hitches with the leader line is the best way to secure your bait. Bait loops are also commonly used to secure bait.

When is comes to weights we also like to overdo it. Using a little more than needed. I find this can help in windy situations on the river. I rarely use anything less than 22 oz weight. Another little trick in windy situations when your wind bags aren't working the way you want them to. Is to put a little slack in your line. Try it out sometime, let us know how it works.

Everyone has their own way of fishing and overall you can and will catch fish using different methods. We try and let you know about what we feel may have worked a little better for us over time.
