Lowrance ActiveTarget for Sturgeon Research

The new Lowrance ActiveTarget Live Sonar Has Arrived!

It is installed on our boat and is the first in British Columbia.

Our good friend from Lowrance Fishing, Wayne Richey spent a couple of days with us getting the product dialed in.

The unit is NEXT LEVEL wild!

First, let’s start with the custom housing that Wayne did for us.

This holds the brains of the unit with an on / off switch on the outside, for easy powering. The unit is secured out of the way and is connected to our rear 12” HDS Live unit and is viewable on our front HDS live unit as well.

The Custom Bracket Mount

Wayne is making these custom brackets and they are for sale. If you are interested in the custom bracket mount, Email us through the website and we can put you in touch.

The ability to rotate is everything and we have been perfecting this mount system for a couple of years now. On our 7th generation, it’s as perfect as can be. The telescopic design allows for quick and easy removal from the water into your boat.

We spent 2 days juvenile Sturgeon fishing and then had to spent a few mins looking for some adult Sturgeon :) The video below is of a 243cm Sturgeon with 108cm girth on the line!

Amazing image quality as you can see. This fish was a virgin and was tagged and released, as all Sturgeon in the province of British Columbia are catch and release only. Watch the video below to see the sonar in action!

Video Of Lowrance ActiveTarget Live Sonar

You can see the amazing detail of the sturgeon on display in the video.

We are very excited about our Lowrance ActiveTarget Live Sonar unit and how it can help us do better research on white Sturgeon here in BC.

Great job Lowrance Fishing and thank you Wayne for being the mad scientist you are.

Make sure to contact us if you have any questions about fishing for Sturgeon in BC or this Lowrance setup.
