Fraser River Sport Fishing Alliance

For those of you who know me, your well aware that I am very involved with the political side of our fisheries.

Part of my Director duties for the Fraser Valley Angling Guides Association is to go to many high-level meetings involving First Nations, Government, and user groups. It's a thankless job but imperative to staying knowledgeable and giving input for recommendations on fisheries.

I can say over the last 9 years, I can count on one hand the people who have been going to these meetings, dedicating significant time to fight for not only recreational anglers but other guiding companies as well.

Recently, a lobby group like nothing before has been formed to fight for the recreational angler. This is the most important group I've been a part of because we have been losing our opportunity to fish the Fraser as recreational anglers have seen a significant decrease over the years set by DFO. See HERE for the article in the Chilliwack Progress.

Anyone who fishes the Fraser, makes a living off the fisheries, from guides, hotels to gas stations, and so on, you need to pay attention to this ongoing issue. Our heritage as many of you know, is slipping away. We will be seeking donations to keep this group together and fighting. If you are interested in helping please contact us for information on how to get involved and visit Fraser Valley Angling Guides Association to learn more.

Thank you and Stay tuned.

- Kevin
