Sturgeon Slayers New Protocols 2020
Hi Slayers,
I think we can safely say it’s been an unusual time for everyone. We hope you are all healthy and have been able to take some time to relax and connect with your family.
Thank you to the first responders and essential workers, especially here in British Columbia, where we have managed to effectively flatten the curve.
With that said, we are opening up our operations starting today June 1st. We have been in quarantine mode up in the mountains and are now ready to get back to work but of course, we want to do so in a responsible manner. For the foreseeable future, the following are some new protocols we are putting into place so that we can get back to immersing ourselves in the magical world of sturgeon and getting that healthy dose of fresh air. Please have a quick read, and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.

New Protocols
PRE-TRIP SCREENING
At the time of booking, we will be asking you the following:
Have you or anyone in your group traveled outside of Canada or had close contact with anyone that has traveled outside of Canada in the past 14 days? YES/NO
Have you had close contact with anyone with respiratory illness or a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19? YES/NO
Do you have a fever or have recently experienced flu-like symptoms? YES/NO
If anyone answers YES, we will ask that you postpone your trip for at least 14 days.
*we are hoping borders and restrictions open up soon, in which case, the questionnaire will be revised and we can accept our American and International guests.
SAFETY PRACTICES & GUIDELINES WHILE WITH GUESTS
Guests must bring their own lunch.
If using boat coolers to store lunches, we will ensure that coolers are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected after each trip.
Guides will keep their own lunches in a separate cooler to avoid potential cross-contamination.
We will avoid “normal” greeting procedures and ALL physical contact…ie NO hand-shakes!
If we are guiding multi-boat trips, we will ensure that guests continue to practice social distancing practices while waiting to get into the boats, rather than gather all in one small area.
Social distancing can be difficult on the boats. We expect that everyone (guests & guides alike) will wear non-medical masks, rubber/latex gloves, and even sunglasses if desired, to minimize the potential spread of C19.
We encourage you to bring your own personal protective equipment (PPE) if possible. However, every boat will have a supply of disposable non-medical masks and rubber/latex gloves.
We will have hand sanitizer on all boats and it should be used by customers and guides at their discretion, particularly after handling rods/reels or other onboard equipment.
Avoid taking pictures of fish with multiple phones. We recommend that one camera be used for the day and guests can exchange/share all pictures after their trip.
POST TRIP CLEANING
While it is standard practice to give the boats a good clean after each and every trip, we will take the additional steps to minimize further risks:
We will wipe down the boat with a disinfectant in high “contact areas” such as steering wheel, handrails, around the front entry/exit points, armrests, rod handle, reel handle, garbage buckets, coolers, etc.
